The April Award was generously established by Dr. Marilyn (“Molly”) Hood to honor the memory of her longtime research assistant, April Lahm. Each year, one promising new professional in audience research and evaluation is selected to attend the annual Visitor Studies Association (VSA) conference. This year the conference will be held in in Indianapolis, IN July 14-18. Now in it's 19th year, the Award recognizes the selected individual as an emerging leader, showing promise in the field, and leverages the conference as a unique opportunity to explore, learn, grow, and interact with a diverse and supportive community of visitor studies professionals.
The April Award includes a $500 travel stipend, waived conference registration fees, and a special event held in the recipient's honor during the annual conference.
