Are you wanting to get more involved in the Visitor Studies Association? Would you like to help shape its future direction and key priorities? VSA is seeking candidates to serve on its Board of Directors, as several members are rotating off the board this year. VSA is led by an all- volunteer, actively working Board, with directors drawn from the broader field of practice and research about visitor studies. There are a number of professional benefits that accompany the responsibilities of Board service. We are seeking candidates for six positions to serve from July 2023 to July 2025, including:

  • President-Elect
  • Vice President of Organizational Development
  • Treasurer
  • Member at Large (3)

  • Shape VSA’s agenda and influence the visitor studies sector
  • Shepherd and steward the development of VSA programs, including membership, conferences and professional development offerings
  • Enhance your professional experience through board service

We are looking for people with a broad range of skills, backgrounds, and experiences that represent the wider VSA community, including emerging professionals and those who utilize but do not produce visitor studies and evaluations. We seek individuals who are committed to supporting and strengthening the field of Visitor Studies, building an equitable and inclusive membership association, and growing the VSA community and partnerships.

How do I apply for the VSA Board?

Please submit a resume or CV and Statement of Interest using the prompts below by 5 pm ET, Wednesday, May 10. Your Statement of Interest (maximum 500 words) should include responses to the following areas:

  • What would you like to see happen within the Visitor Studies field and/or VSA as an association? Specifically, what would be your top 2 priority areas for focus, reflection, and action if you were to join the VSA Board? (Please provide some details as to why each is a priority for you and the field.)
  • There are many ways to contribute to VSA as a board member. Please share with us how you feel your experiences, skills, background, or networks could support you in this role.
  • What brought you to VSA and how do you hope VSA serves you and other members?
  • What would you hope to contribute and/or take away from your VSA Board service?
  • What would make board service a valuable experience for you?
