Informational Webchat for Themed Issue of the Visitor Studies Journal: “Redefining the Visitor Studies Field for a Changing World” :
Thursday, February 15, 4pm ET / 1pm PT
The Visitor Studies Journal and the Visitor Studies Association are releasing a call for submissions for a themed issue on the topic of “Redefining the Visitor Studies field for a Changing World”. The issue seeks to create a platform for reflecting on the state of the Visitor Studies field today, ways in which we need to evolve the field based on new learnings, understandings and contexts, as well as new directions in the field, both in North America and internationally. During this webchat we will provide:
-
Context for the themed issue: We are excited for a new approach to an upcoming issue of Visitor Studies centered around the theme of future directions for the field. We will describe the vision for the issue as it relates to VSA’s work on reimagining VSA’s Evaluator Competencies and building fieldwide conversations around what it means to do visitor studies, research, and evaluation in today’s informal learning contexts and future directions for the field.
-
An explanation of the types of articles we seek: The themed issue will also be an opportunity to welcome new types of articles, from research and evaluation studies, to explorations of new methodology, short essays, white papers, to reflective pieces, conceptual pieces and literature reviews. We are encouraging collaborative submissions, and those reflecting diverse perspectives, including global perspectives.
-
Description of the mechanics for submitting abstracts and articles for the issue: We will walk through the submission process, which includes submission of an abstract for review prior to writing a complete article.
-
Space to brainstorm ideas and find collaborators: To support ideation and collaboration, we will make space for participants to connect with each other about ideas they may be considering and potentially find co-authors, as well as some Q&A time with the journal editors and VSA board members.
